Back to TopExamples of Playback Scenarios
SMP supports three playback methods and allows you mix different playback methods together and play different multimedia contents at designated time. The following are some examples of playback scenarios that demonstrate different ways of configuration.
Use the playback method one at a time without changing with time
If you stick to one playback method (Skin, Program, or Playlist) all the time or switch between different methods manually, you just need to configure in the Playback page. You don't need to edit any schedule here.
Use the Skin playback method only but want to play different multimedia sources or different sets of contents at different time
The Skin playback method allows users to divide the screen into several zones and each zone can apply its own schedules separately.
- Select a Skin as the default playback schedule. Please go to PLAYBACK > Display 1 > Skin section, choose one Skin, and click the play button beneath it. Then SMP will play this Skin and its multimedia configurations during the time period when there's no specific playback schedule is applied.
- Master Schedule: You don't need to configure in the master schedule. In this case, it means SMP will play the Skin you select in the PLAYBACK page all the time.
- Sub-schedule (for Zones): Select a zone (e.g. Multiedia-1) your skin includes and you will enter the calendar and the configuration page of that zone. Then click Add to add schedules of that zone. Just repeat the same procedure to add schedules to all zones on your skin if necessary.
Use the Playlist playback method to show full-screen information most of the time but want to insert a Program as special promotion during a holiday (ex. Christmas)
The Program playback method allows users to divide a screen into several zones, but use as one package. On the other hand, SMP will show each item in full screen when you use the Playlist playback method. Either way, all zones within one program and all items within one playlist will apply the same schedule as a whole package. Therefore, in this case, you only need to configure the Master Schedule and skip the Sub-schedule.
- Select a Playlist as the default playback schedule. Please go to PLAYBACK > Display 1 > Playlist section, choose one Playlist, and click the play button beneath it. Then SMP will play this Playlist during the time period when there's no specific playback schedule is applied.
- Master Schedule: Click Add and select Program in the drop-down menu. Then you can set the time period (e.g. 2013/12/1 to 2013/12/25) and select the Program (e.g. Christmas promotion), which you already create in advance.
- Sub-schedule (for Zones): You don't need to configure the Sub-schedule.
Use the Playlist playback method to show full-screen information most of the time but want to use the Skin playback method from time to time
You can mix different playback methods freely and choose the right one at the right time.
- Select a Playlist as the default playback schedule. Please go to PLAYBACK > Display 1 > Playlist section, choose one Playlist, and click the play button beneath it. Then SMP will play this Playlist during the time period when there's no specific playback schedule is applied.
- Master Schedule: Click Add and select Skin in the drop-down menu. Then you can set a time period (e.g. 2013/10/1 to 2013/10/15) and select the Skin which you want to play during that time.
- Sub-schedule (for Zones): Now, you can add schedules for each zone in that Skin separately. Select a zone (e.g. Multiedia-1) your skin includes and you will enter the calendar and the configuration page of that zone. Then click Add to add schedules of that zone. Just repeat the same procedure to add schedules to all zones on your skin if necessary. These settings will only take effects during the time period when there's a Skin schedule in the Master Schedule.
If you don't add any schedule for each zone in the Sub-Schedule, SMP will apply default settings of each zone which you configure in the PLAYBACK page.
