CMS Connection

When you purchase a CMS server, you can create an account in the CMS server and authorize such account to manage the group which this SMP player belongs to. In this section, you can enable the content synchronization from CAYIN's CMS server. Then the SMP player can update content automatically from a server.

IMPORTANT
  1. If you have files copied in the player and then enable content update from a server, your files will be wiped out on the player side as the contents in the folder on the server will synchronize with the hard drive of the player. Therefore, if you want to edit SMP player's media folder manually, please DO NOT enable the function, content synchronization.
  2. To prevent some media files from deleting by the server while you update content of SMP automatically from CMS or a web server, you can create a folder named protected and keep your files in that folder.
  3. Please open Port 80, 20000 (TCP) for CMS if you are using a firewall.
Note

All functions related to Central Scheduling for an SMP player apply only one server configuration assigned here. Please remember to complete the server settings here before you start to use the function (Central Scheduling).

  1. Select Enable to enable content synchronization.
  2. You can set HTTP or HTTPS as the communication protocol between CMS and SMP. You can also set Auto; then, the system will apply HTTPS (port 443) first and try HTTP (port 80) later if it fails to connect via HTTPS. Please note that you have to make sure to enable HTTPS on CMS server (SYSTEM > Service > Port and Security) before you can select HTTPS as the protocol here, or the SMP player will not be able to update content and sync schedules with the CMS server.
  3. Please enter the User name, Password and Group name of the account, as well as the Domain name or IP address of the CMS server.
Domain name or IP address Domain name or IP address of the CMS server
    Port Set the port number
Username The username is the account you create in the CMS server, and this account should be authorized to manage this group.
    Password User's password.
Group Assign the group which this SMP player belongs to.
    Note

For the Domain name of the CMS server, you must enter FQDN (full qualified domain name) here (e.g. www.cayintech.com).

  4. After completing all settings, please click Test to check the validity of the account and IP address. Please note that the Test button can only be used to test the validity of the Protocol, Username, Password, Group, and IP address.
  5. Then you can adjust the frequency parameters for several SMP/CMS services. The frequency value is from 5 (Frequent) to 1 (Infrequent). If you don't need to check configuration updates from CMS to SMP frequently, you can lower the frequency and reduce network traffic.
    Value Check CMS Configuration
    (period per area)
    SuperMonitor Communication
    (period every heartbeat)
    5 10 seconds 20 seconds
    4 30 seconds 30 seconds
    3 60 seconds 60 seconds
    2 180 seconds 180 seconds
    1 600 seconds 600 seconds
    Note

If you connect SMP players to CMS version 5.0 or earlier, please set frequency to 5 or 4, otherwise you may see the invalid status of SMP connection in Client List or SuperMonitor.
