Content Synchronization

In this section, you can enable the content synchronization from CAYIN's CMS server. Then the SMP player can update content automatically from a server.

IMPORTANT

If you have files copied in the player and then enable content update from a server, your files will be wiped out on the player side as the contents in the folder on the server will synchronize with the hard drive of the player. Therefore, if you want to edit SMP player's media folder manually, please DO NOT enable the function, content synchronization. To prevent some media files from deleting by the server while you update content of SMP automatically from CMS or a web server, you can create a folder named protected and keep your files in that folder.

Synchronize Content with CAYIN's CMS Server

1. Go to CMS > Content Synchronization.
2. Please set Content update frequency to decide how often you want to check content updates.

   Every n minutes	Set the time interval of checking with server.
   Daily	Set the exact time you want to check with the CMS server. You can set up to 3 different time arrangements. After you set the time, please remember to enable those items you want by ticking those checkboxes.

   Note
   The maximum time interval is 10080 minutes.

3. Then you have to decide what kinds of new files you want to download. SMP will only download new contents during the synchronization. You can choose to compare the file size or the file modified time of the server and player. You are obliged to choose at least one method to continue. We suggest you enable both of them.
4. If you would like to download files to a hidden disk space, please enable Hidden disk buffer. After downloading process completes, the system will copy all files to Media Folder immediately. The advantage of this function is to make sure that SMP will not play contents until all files are completely downloaded. We suggest you enable this option.
5. You may want to synchronize contents only when your network traffic is low. Then you can enable Suspend content synchronization, and specify the day (s) and time when you want to stop updating content between the server and the player, so that you can control the usage of network bandwidth usage.

   Note
   If the SMP player is downloading files while the specified time occurs, the procedure will not stop until the downloading file is completely downloaded. For the rest of files, SMP player will keep downloading them during the next period of time of content synchronization.

6. Click Save to save and apply the settings.

   Note
   You can only download a maximum of 8192 files and 256 folders for each mapping group. SMP player cannot synchronize any file bigger or equal to 2GB.

Check Content Update Status

In the Content Synchronization Status section, you can check the content update status of this SMP player.

Disable	If you disable the content synchronization function, you will see the description: Content update from server is disabled.
Updating contents	If this SMP player is synchronizing files with a server, you can see the progress here.
Complete updates	When you enable the content synchronization function, you can see the last updated date here, if this SMP player is not synchronizing files with a server.
